Gweny Love provides one-woman poetry shows, book readings, workshops, lectures, hosting, and public speaking, as she uses poetry, dancing, singing, storytelling, and spoken word to provide upbeat, family-friendly, fun-loving entertainment.Gweny graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Communication and a minor in Telecommunications. As a certified speaker through Toastmasts’ Leadership Institute, she received awards from Toastmasters’ International and served as Vice President of Membership for its Crystal City branch. Gweny has performed at, hosted, partnered, and/or organized numerous events for multi-ethnic executives, dignitaries, politicians, clergy, artists, immigrants, students, seniors, and youths from various religions, races, socio-economic statuses, and backgrounds. She is the host and producer of The Gweny Love Underground Poetry Café TV Show, where she combines uplifting poetry, interesting guests, and lively conversations everyday at 5:00 PM on Comcast Channel 80. Gweny sometimes tapes her show on-location at the sites where she performs. She completed Getting A Grip on Things I & II (Book) and Planted by Rivers of Water (CD). Moreover, she served as a consultant in a management and technology firm, an executive director for a community-based non-profit 501 (C)(3) organization, as well as provided support for both a faith-based group and an international arts and culture organization. Gweny has played the role of a partner for several peace, art, and community initiatives. Those experiences laid the foundation for her learning the “art of doing business and the business of doing art”. To that end, The Cadence Company was established primarily to utilize the arts to create social change.Hence, Gweny’s various community outreach efforts and her interest in local, national, and international peace and sustainability have inspired her to become the founder of the Poetry for Peace initiatives, which consist of Performances, Cafés, Worshops, and Festivals. She started teaching workshops through University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Community Partnerships. In addition, she is also the founder, organizer, and host of the Celebration of Life Fair, in which the presenters at the fair were Dr. Lucille Ijoy (Family Therapist & Talk Show Host), Dr. Paul Bodhise (Chiropractor & Holistic Healer), and Dr. Eugene Mochan (Medical Doctor & Assistant Dean at Osteopathic). Women from all walks-of-life come together for a poetry performance by Gweny Love, in addition to hearing doctors and others talk about weight loss, healthy living, emotional and spiritual health, financial services, and a plethora of other topics. As Gweny pursues her life mission as a poet created to impact humanity around the globe, she is looking forward to attaining the role of poet laureate.
